What's next?
Popularly known as Minhocão, the Elevado Presidente João Goulart is an elevated road in downtown São Paulo that closes to pedestrians on weekends. This academic project develops a signage system aimed at highlighting artworks, preserving listed historical sites, and providing clear guidance.
One of the main challenges of the project was addressing the dynamic nature of Minhocão, which alternates between an expressway for vehicles and a pedestrian space.
A central fixed metal sign indicates the street you are on, while smaller signs fit onto the ends of a triangular structure, guiding pedestrians without compromising vehicle mobility.
Each smaller sign has a specific function, differentiated by color. Red highlights points of interest, yellow references artworks, and small black signs indicate the nearest metro stations.
The graphic design adopts an aesthetic of simple forms and a minimal color palette, inspired by contemporary design. The signage was created to be clear, functional, and integrated with Minhocão’s urban rhythm, prioritizing information without excess.
